We are excited to announce our clinic has now re-opened. We are operating based on the guidelines established by the Ontario Government's Ministry of Health and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). The health of our clients, therapists and staff is our priority. Our team has been hard at work to raise the bar of hygiene and sanitation, as well as considering every step of the treatment process to ensure we meet your needs in a focused and safe manner that is in accordance with government guidelines.

For the comfort and safety of our clients, therapists, and staff, new precautionary safety measures are in place.

We are open!

Cleaning Sink

Sutherland-Chan Danforth will be taking the following measures:

  • Conducting daily health screenings for our clients, therapists, staff, and anyone who enters the clinic.

  • Using the Ontario self-assessment tool to assess for COVID-19 symptoms. (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/)

  • Having therapists, staff, and clients who exhibit symptoms and do not pass screening advised to self-isolate and complete the online self-assessment tool before calling their primary care provider or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.

  • Having our staff/therapists’ (a) temperature taken and (b) screening questionnaire completed for every shift.

  • Respecting physical distancing (outside of actual treatments) of two metres or more, including limiting the number of therapists, staff, and clients in the clinic at the same time and in general.

  • Staggering appointment times to minimize unnecessary physical proximity (i.e. reduce the number of clients simultaneously waiting for treatment).

  • Reducing the number of treatments in a day and increasing the time between appointments to allow for proper sanitizing and disinfecting of treatment rooms.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

  • Having all therapists and staff wash and/or sanitize their hands/arms using alcohol based hand sanitizer, in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines as often as is necessary or appropriate. As per regular protocol for observing the highest standards of hand hygiene, this includes before and after treatments.

  • Ensuring hand hygiene is strictly observed, and hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the clinic.

  • Increasing cleaning and sanitization in high touch and common areas. This includes doors, knobs, switches, counters, etc... throughout the day.

  • Using cleaners and sanitizers endorsed by Health Canada as effective disinfectants and sanitizers against COVID-19.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Clothing

  • Providing face masks and face shields for our therapists and staff; they will wear surgical masks as recommended by the CMTO and Health Canada.

  • Having therapists and staff prepare a change of clothes for their work shift.

  • Gloves may be worn by therapists because of treatment needs; they will be disposed of after each treatment.

Additional Pre-cautions

  • Posting visible notices concerning hand washing, mask wearing, social distancing, etc...

  • Acrylic shields have been erected to provide a barrier at the reception area.

Treatment Room Details

  • All sheets and pillowcases will be washed after each client appointment by our professional linen company. Towels and Blankets are laundered with commercial grade equipment and detergents and emulsifiers.

  • The pen in the treatment room is disinfected after each treatment, should you need to sign your any forms.

For clients, please be advised:

  • You are required to wear a clean mask upon entering the clinic for the duration of the treatment and throughout your time in the clinic. As per recommendations from the government of Canada as of Nov 3, 2020, we highly suggest arriving with a clean 3-ply mask: 2 layers made of tightly woven fabric and the middle layer made of filter-type fabric such as non-woven polypropylene.

  • You are to wash/sanitize their hands, in the manner prescribed by the Ministry of Health upon entering the clinic. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance of the clinic and at various designated locations throughout the clinic for your frequent use.

  • You are to respect physical distancing of 2 metres in the clinic, except for the close proximity during the treatment

  • You are required to complete a screening questionnaire at reception prior to treatment.

  • You will be asked to immediately leave the clinic to maintain public safety if you unable to follow the above protocols.

  • Booking appointments by phone and email is preferred. In-person booking may require you to wait to ensure physical distancing is respected. Note: If you book by e-mail, please provide a contact number where our receptionist can reach you to conduct a mandatory pre-appointment health screening questionnaire. Treatments cannot be provided unless a satisfactory pre-screening is completed.

  • To minimize your time and money contact handling at reception, we only accept credit card/debit card payments at this time and will not be accepting cash.

  • Use of hydrotherapy in treatment (e.g. thermophores/hydrocollators/packs) will be limited unless otherwise arranged with your therapist in order to maintain optimal service and safety.

Vaccination Status and Privacy:

Sutherland-Chan takes the privacy of our clients, therapists, and staff seriously.

Vaccination Status

  • Many of our therapists and staff have given their express consent to share their personal health information as it relates to vaccination status, some have not. There can be many reasons for either decision.

  • If you wish to know the vaccination status of your requested therapist, please request that information from the receptionists of each clinic. If the therapist has given their express consent the receptionist may communicate that information. If they have not given their express consent, you may be asked if the therapist may contact you to discuss any concerns you may have at that time.

For Your Appointment:

  • You will be asked to verbally complete a screening questionnaire (click here) at the time of booking; this is a Ministry of Health requirement. If you do screen positive, we will be unable to book your appointment and we will attempt to schedule your appointment when safe to do so.

  • New clients will be sent an e-mail with a link to our Health History Form to complete prior to arriving. Please print a copy and bring to your appointment. Note: If you choose to use our online booking portal at scdanforth.janeapp.com you can fill out the health history form online instead

  • Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. Please refrain from bringing family or friends with you while attending your appointment unless their appointment times are the same as yours. If you require a family member or companion to escort you because of safety, they will be required to wait outside of the clinic.

  • During your visit to the clinic, the receptionist and your therapist will greet you with a smile instead of a handshake to minimize potential transmission contact.

  • A sanitized pen at reception will be provided for you to complete the screening form; after using it, please place the pen in the designated "used" container for disinfection.

  • You must call us to cancel your booked appointment if you begin to exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms prior to your treatment. We do not want you to feel pressured to attend your appointment if you are feeling unwell or are concerned of having acquired COVID-19 in the time prior to your visit. Last minute cancellation penalties will be waived during this time if you are feeling unwell or have concerns of having been exposed to COVID-19. Waiving of fees does not apply for "No-Shows" and missed appointments with no explanations.
