We are open during COVID!

We are operating based on the guidelines established by the Ontario Government's Ministry of Health and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). The health of our clients, therapists and staff is our priority. Our team has been hard at work to raise the bar of hygiene and sanitation, as well as considering every step of the treatment process to ensure we meet your needs in a focused and safe manner that is in accordance with government guidelines.

For the comfort and safety of our clients, therapists, and staff, the following precautionary safety measures are in place.

Cleaning Sink

Sutherland-Chan Danforth will be taking the following measures:

  • Clinicians will not treat clients with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 until those symptoms have subsided or to anyone who is supposed to be self-isolating at the time of their scheduled appointment. If feeling ill with any cold/flu/COVID symptoms and have an appointment, please contact as as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment.

  • Clinicians will self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and not practice if they are feeling ill.

Screening

Cleaning and Disinfecting

  • Having all therapists and staff wash and/or sanitize their hands/arms using alcohol based hand sanitizer, in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines as often as is necessary or appropriate. As per regular protocol for observing the highest standards of hand hygiene, this includes before and after treatments.

  • Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the clinic.

  • Using cleaners and sanitizers endorsed by Health Canada as effective disinfectants and sanitizers against COVID-19.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Providing face masks and face shields for our therapists and staff; they will wear surgical/N95 masks as recommended by the CMTO and Health Canada. Note: masking is no longer mandated by the government and CMTO. Staff may choose not to wear a mask during treatment.

  • Please let our receptionist know in advance at the time of booking if you’d prefer your therapist to wear a mask during your treatment.

  • Some therapists may require you to wear a mask during your treatment: you will be notified in advance as soon as possible after you book your visit.

  • Gloves may be worn by therapists because of treatment needs; they will be disposed of after each treatment.

Additional Pre-cautions

  • Posting visible notices concerning hand washing, mask wearing, social distancing, etc...

  • Acrylic shields have been erected to provide a barrier at the reception area.

Treatment Room Details

  • All sheets and pillowcases will be washed after each massage therapy client appointment by our professional linen company. Towels and Blankets are laundered with commercial grade equipment and detergents and emulsifiers.

  • Treatment tables and pillowcases are covered with impermeable materials to allow for disinfection after each client appointment.

  • Treatment rooms will be sanitized and disinfected after each massage therapy client as per CMTO guidelines.

For clients, please be advised:

  • The Ministry of Health has removed the requirement to wear a mask; however many clinicians and clients opt to continue to wear a mask for safety. Clinicians may ask their clients to wear a mask.

  • Your clinician may have personal circumstances that require you to wear a mask, as part of their determination for the benefits outweighing the risks to proceed with treatment: this is a Standard of Practice of the CMTO. Examples: they have immuno-compromised family members, their ethical determination is that the possibility and degree of harm is greater than benefits if unmasked and illness were to be transmitted, etc... if you are unable to wear a mask during your appointment, please contact us (a) prior to booking, or (b) as soon as possible immediately after booking to avoid disappointment. If you cannot wear a mask we will try our best to schedule you with a clinician that is able to accommodate your needs.

  • You are to wash/sanitize their hands, in the manner prescribed by the Ministry of Health upon entering the clinic. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance of the clinic and at various designated locations throughout the clinic for your frequent use.

  • You will be asked to immediately leave the clinic to maintain public safety if you unable to follow the above protocols.

  • To minimize your time and money contact handling at reception, we only accept credit card/debit card payments at this time and will not be accepting cash.

Vaccination Status and Privacy:

Sutherland-Chan takes the privacy of our clients, therapists, and staff seriously.

Vaccination Status

  • Many of our therapists and staff have given their express consent to share their personal health information as it relates to vaccination status, some have not. There can be many reasons for either decision.

  • If you wish to know the vaccination status of your requested therapist, please request that information from the receptionists of each clinic. If the therapist has given their express consent the receptionist may communicate that information. If they have not given their express consent, you may be asked if the therapist may contact you to discuss any concerns you may have at that time.

For Your Appointment:

  • New clients: Please use our online booking portal at scdanforth.janeapp.com to fill out our health history form online. Alternatively, you may request an e-mail with a link to our Health History Form to complete prior to arriving. Please print a copy and bring to your appointment. You may also arrive 10 minutes or more prior to your appointment to complete a paper version.

  • You must call us to cancel your booked appointment if you begin to exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms prior to your treatment. We do not want you to feel pressured to attend your appointment if you are feeling unwell or are concerned of having acquired COVID-19 in the time prior to your visit. Last minute cancellation penalties will be waived during this time if you are feeling unwell or have concerns of having been exposed to COVID-19. Waiving of fees does not apply for "No-Shows" and missed appointments with no reasonable explanations.
